Core edition

The governed backend foundation for teams defining their own business model, functions, and workflows.

Core is the standard Pikbase backend for teams building their own business application model. It provides the governed platform system without adding the ERP or delegated SaaS domain families.

What Core includes

  • Isolated workspace data, users, roles, permissions, positions, groups, and departments.
  • Entity definitions and properties for modeling application data.
  • Entity Service access for validated reads and writes.
  • Serverless functions and durable workflows, including human tasks and approval routing.
  • Configuration, content, files, documents, audit, localization, and development services.
  • CLI and MCP tooling for inspecting, testing, and delivering backend resources.

Core is developer-capable, but it does not ship the low-code application designer or a finished business application. Define the entities and processes your product needs, then build its user experience against those governed contracts.

What Core does not include

Core does not include the base ERP domain model for products, sales, orders, payments, or cash flow. It also does not include the delegated SaaS backend for operating customer tenants, registrations, subscriptions, provider billing, and usage limits. Choose Corporate or SaaS when those capabilities are part of the product baseline.

Build the frontend

Follow Build a React app from npm with --profile core to connect a frontend to your ready Core workspace. The guide covers CLI installation, workspace initialization, local development, and customization.

The Core edition is not tied to one UI. Start with a Pikbase React boilerplate, including the Vite SSR and Next.js application starters, or add the reusable @gsb-core/* React packages to an existing application. The packages provide schema-driven forms and tables, references, workflow controls, authentication, localization, storage, and application composition while Core remains the authoritative backend.
